I’ve been reminded quite a bit lately that every moment of life is new. It’s a new opportunity to choose who we will be next.
Are the beliefs we hold, the actions we take, and the results we get the way we want continue experiencing ourselves, or has life caused us to desire something different?
“That was then, this is now,” has become almost a mantra for me, as I remind myself of my power to choose in the moment and trust in that choice.
It reminds me to let go of the stories I tell about my past as justifications or comparisons to where I am now.
It reminds me that past experience need not be an excuse, or limit future expectation.
And it reminds me that I am the only one who can choose, moment to moment, breath to breath, who I wish to be from this moment forward.
“That was then, this is now.”
I invite you to let this be your mantra for the week.
Allow it to show you where you may be limiting your present and future opportunities and possibilities with the weight of past experience.
That was then, this is now, and in this moment, you get to choose what comes next.
